Hier wird endlich mal ein besonders tiefer Einblick in die Arbeit eines weltbekannten Architekten gegeben. Auch die Vorgeschichte finde ich sehr spannend, d.h. wie Rem Koolhaas zur Architektur kam. Ein absolutes "must have" für Architekturinteressierte und Studenten!

...it creates an atmosphere that is in common with the atmosphere around Koolhaas.

It is fast, but not too fast and it fits with this time, it is a film that is moving and that makes it interesting, almost a piece of art but not without giving information. Although I am glad that there are subtitles it is maybe because of that sometimes when you are looking at the different scenes and also the subitles a little much together.

I usually like movies with a slow atmosphere/movement but in this movie the filmmakers show something else, they don't look backwards, it is not a story about a man who is finished - it is not a quiet portrait. Maybe later someone will make a quiet portrait of this man with things about where he lives, in what kind of family he was growing up, what he is eating for breakfast and if he has a lovelife.

There is a lot information and that is a reason to see the movie twice. Koolhaas is still in development, he is moving and the filmmakers chose to make a moving film. It is all about making choices and I think they made a choice and good one to portrait this architect.

Ein Film über einen, ja DEN Architekten - auch für Nicht-Fachleute. Eine Doku, die einfach Freude macht, unterhält und locker-leicht mit Wissen und schönen Bildern und Klängen um sich wirft. Der Rhythmus stimmt, eigentlich alles. Man lernt viel und gern. Ich habe einige Kapitel längst mehrfach angeschaut, mit Freude und gewiss nicht zum letzten Mal. Warum? Deswegen: Wie Chris Dercon den Zigarettenqualm zur Seite bläst. Cecil Balmonds Zahnlücke. Wie Koolhaas ins Straucheln gerät - im Baecker-Gespräch - als die Rede auf Moral kommt. Die roten postmaoistischen Kokarden an Koolhaas/Scheerens Revers. Der samtene, wohlfokussierte Mezzo der Sprecherin. Der Jeep bei der Verabschiedung des Betrachters. Das Schlussbild mit den schräg-tatlinesk in den Himmel stoßenden CCTV-Türmen. Ramus' Einlassungen über das Perverse holländischen Humors. Auch das Layout samt Cover ist schön geraten.
